The tourist brochure printed with various local flavors is the most bold method to attract tourists.
Titled "Smell York", the brochure is scented with fragrant notes of a day spent in racing, flavored tea, chocolate, smelling swamp, gunpowder and even smell of sulfur that the natives of York associates ghosts.
The selection of 12 flavors was designed in such a way as to reflect the emblems of each month of the calendar year which encourages tourists to venture.
It was created by a team of chemical engineers who analyzed a series of odors associated with the city of York, before they recreate those flavors in the laboratory and to apply them to the pictures in the brochure.
When tourists will read these pages to learn about York, the olfactory senses will smell the aroma of charcoal, smoke, dust and oil from the golden age and the smell of fresh grass grown on the North York Moors, the flavors of chocolate and yellow daffodils.
The city is called "the most haunted city in Britain", so the stinky smell of brooded eggs is associated with the two of the oldest ghosts of York, was included in the book, along with the smell of gunpowder associated with Guy Fawkes, born in this region.
